BBC iPlayer problem via proxy

Post by Anders »

Hi

I'm evaluating the pro-version. Tried two BBC programs but both fail. I can choose quality, only the lowest one works at all in trial. But I tried both with and without the UK-suffix. Status shows "Preparing download", "Starting download" and then "Download failed".

I'm running a virtual machine (VM) with Ubuntu, VPN and a Squid proxy. So I configure the IP of this VM as proxy in settings.
ITV works fine in the downloader. Both BBC videos plays on the VM itself.

But I don't think I see the ITV download itself in the squid log. Is the actual video download done via the proxy as well? Or is it just "metadata" that is fetched via the proxy? Similar issue with BBC, I only see "metadata" fetches in the squid log.

The shows I tried:

You need to use a UK VPN, proxy won't work.
