Christv Lite 5.55 + Pinnacle Pctv Stereo + Windows

Hello I got into trouble trying to configure Christv Lite under windows 7 with a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo NTSC card. Here is what happened.

I plugged the card in, Windows 7 detects and install its driver automatically, I installed
ChrisTV Lite, do a channel scan (I even got image during channel scans) it the asks me to
Save the channel list and to append the S-Video to de list etc, but after that, the preview window
Goes completely gray.

I have tried:
1) Restart ChrisTV .. no success
2) Restart PC .. no success
3) Tweak the ChrisTV configuration (using various rendering modes, tweaking the capture source options) I got sound, so now I now it does zap channels but still all gray.

I then uninstalled ChrisTV and tried another software K!TV I got the same gray screen but it occurred to me to try and open the capture source using VLC media player so I tried that and got the same gray but since I already had seen video from the channel scan at ChrisTV I suspected
Nothing was wrong with the card so I uninstalled the card and did a Device Manager Drivers CLEANUP (deleting all non-present devices and reinitialize the drivers with a clean driver install)

I then plugged the card in, Windows detected the card again installed the drivers, etc, and now
Tried the K!TV software and it worked fine so now that I knew the card was OK and working properly under Windows 7 with its driver, I was also able to open and view the capture device using VLC Media Player.

I then re-installed ChrisTV Lite and the same error happened all over, after installing and channel scanning at startup setup (during which I got video ), everything goes gray, not only ChrisTV but
K!TV and VLC Media Player too, I discovered that to restore the normal functioning of the card I have to delete de device at device manager and re-install the driver

Hope this can be solved in some future release I really like this software.

Follow ups:

I just moved the card from one PCI Slot to another, i remembered this card used to behave diferent according to the PCI where its installed.

Cleaned up the non-present devices and made windows 7 detect and setup the driver in a new pci slot...

make the same tests with K!TV works, and with VLC Media Player also works.

Deleted ChrisTV.log, ChrisTV.XML, Channels.ini, etc.. and started a brand new configuration startup...

everything went as usual, got image during the channel scanning, detects all channels, it then asks me to add the S-Video in to the channel list and everything goes ugly GRAY.

Tried all kind of configurations also same results.

EVR is not working, send some error ... not that i care..
sound only works after little option tweaking...

and thats all for now...

Follow up 2: Just downloaded Christv Professional and the same applies.

just identical the preview window goes gray no matter what options i try...

after uninstalling, the only way to restore my device to proper function in other tv apps is to delete the windows device in the device manager and make it re-detect an re-install the driver..

hope this has a solution.. going to try older versions, maybe that would work

OK .. so i just "found" an error case similar to mine ( difficult since there was no references to the Card with the problem, the OS, nor any other usefull data to search)

There is this guy that says that playing with the Brigtness, contrast, hu, etc. solves the problem and gives you picture... i wil try that as soon i have the chance.

One thing to note is that he is using some Phillips SAA713x Chipset, the same chipset the Pinnacle PCTV Stereo has...

this makes me think ... is it something Christv sets incorrectly to the windows 7 driver hence all other software gets screwed after christv opens the device driver?

Yes.. it worked, it was the image adjustments that made the preview windows all gray, and it seems the devices keeps the values ChrisTV stablishes at initial configuration ( all 128 )
