Please make sure first that you have selected correctly the TV card type in Configuration Wizard. If you still encounter problems please check the following settings.

Your TV Card can output the TV sound in 3 modes :

A. TV Cards that have a sound cable that connects your TV Card Line out to your Sound card line in, make sure that is plugged correctly.
- Program Settings->Driver Settings->Audio Capture Source-> choose your Sound Card.
- Program Settings->Image & Sound Settings->set Sound Input to Line in, Mic in or AUX.
- In Channels Settings Window try to change the Video Standard to other value and Audio Input to Line in 1(2,3).

Please note that Audio Input option is available in ChrisTV PVR Professional and Standard and ChrisTV Lite Addon Packs.

Also you should have set correctly the recording sound source in Program Settings->Recording->Common - To Line IN, Mic in, CD Audio, Aux or Wav.

B. TV Cards that are streaming the TV sound digitally via the PCI-bus or the I2S-bus and no cable connection is required between the TV card audio output and Sound Card line in input.
In this case you should enable "Use TV Card Audio Output through the PCI-bus (TV Card WDM Driver)" setting in Program Settings->Driver Settings->Advanced Settings and restart ChrisTV.
Also make sure that :
- in Program Settings->Driver Settings->Audio Capture Source-> your Sound Card is selected.
- in Program Settings->Image & Sound Settings->Sound Input is set to Wave or you can enable "Use DirectX Sound Controller".

C. Many USB TV Cards are streaming the TV sound digitally via USB and no cable connection is required between the TV card audio output and Sound Card line in input.
In this case you should check in Program Settings->Driver Settings->Audio Rendering Device for "USB Audio" or a device with a name similar with your TV card name, (for example : PCTV USB2 Audio, WinTV USB2 Audio etc).
After you select the correct device you have to enable "Render TV Audio through Audio Rendering Device" setting in Program Settings->Driver Settings->Advanced Settings (make sure that "Use TV Card Audio Output through PCI" is disabled ) and restart ChrisTV.
Also make sure that :
- in Program Settings->Driver Settings->Audio Capture Source-> your Sound Card is selected.
- in Program Settings->Image & Sound Settings->Sound Input is set to Wave or you can enable "Use DirectX Sound Controller".

Other information and advices in order to fix any sound problem :

If Increasing/muting sound has no effect in preview mode then some sound settings are not properly set in ChrisTV, you should follow the next steps :
- in Program Settings->Driver Settings : make sure that the sound card is selected.
- in Program Settings->Image & Sound : Sound in : Line in, Mic in, Aux or any other value, change the volume trackbar(or check mute) after each "sound in" value change and check if it has any effect on sound.

Other usefull tips for no sound problem or bad sound (noise problems) :
Some TV Card drivers (based on Philips 713x chipset and Conexant CX2388x chipset) use the Country Code to determine the Sound Standard used in that region.
Please make sure that you have set correctly the Country (Location) , where you (or your cable provider) are in the Windows Control Panel ->Regional Settings -> "Location" and  "Standards and Formats" ,
This problem can be solved in 4.xx version by setting the Region/Country in ChrisTV Configuration Wizard or ChrisTV Quick Configuration Panel.

For some countries there could be problems, because the cable provider doesn't broadcast the channels in the official TV Standard for that country.
In that case try this values in order to force the video standard that is used by your cable provider :
PAL BG - Germany ( 49 )
PAL DK - Romania ( 40 )
PAL I - United Kingdom

Also make sure that the Video Standard for the Channels are set right to the one used in your area ( check ChrisTV Help ->Video Standard List )

For some countries there could be problems, because the cable provider broadcasts the channels in 2 different TV standards, for example Romania ( PAL B\G and PAL D\K), in this case you should enable in Program Settings->Driver Settings :
Force Country changing according to the TV Channel Video Standard
(useful for some TV Cards, when the cable provider is sending the channels in two or more Video Standards and you don't have sound on all channels)

P.S : Please note that the above used menu commands from ChrisTV are the one available for GUI language set to English.

If the sound mutes after 1-2 minutes while watching TV, then probably the TV Card WDM driver is not properly installed or the problem is caused by some settings in Norton Antivirus, you should disable (Un-check) "MSN messenger","Yahoo messenger" and "AOL messenger" settings in the "Internet" selection of Norton AntiVirus 2003(2004,2005) for more details check :

Other things that you might have to check :

In order to get the computer to record the correct signal (or any signal), you need to select which input source you want to record from. On Windows this is done by selecting the desired input source (i.e. line in) from the Recording Control dialog.

The Recording Control dialog is accessed through the standard Windows volume control.

The Windows volume control is accessed by double clicking the speaker icon in the system tray (right next to the clock).

Image

If you do not have a speaker icon in your taskbar tray, check Start button->Settings->Control Panel->Multimedia->Audio->Show volume control on the taskbar.

To bring up the Recording Control dialog, select Properties from the Options menu. In The Properties dialog, select your Mixer Device and select Recording from the Adjust volume for radio button menu and press OK.

Image

In the Recording Control dialog you can select input source and adjust input volume for your recording. (i.e. if you have your TV Card Sound In is plugged into line in on your computer, you should select line in as your input source.)

Thanks to NOPIK for this advices :) :

Try following steps:
1. Run ChrisTV and select Recording->Settings->Audio/Video Settings and look at Recording Sound Level.
2. If you have not indication - go to Windows mixer settings->Record settings and check, that input you have tuner connected to, is checked and level is set at high position.
3. If you have not indication - go to Control Panel->Media&Sound settings->Audio settings->Recording and check, that you have proper device selected for record (probably, you will need to set an "use only default device" option)
4. If you have sound level indication and do not hear any audio on playback, try to capture with settings: 320X240 without compression and audio PCM@48kHz, 768kbit, mono

Some TV Card drivers are using different TV Frequency tunning, if you have sound problems, in this case you should try to Enable in Program
Settings->Driver Settings->Advanced
:

1. Use alternative channel frequency setting ( for some TV Cards)
2. Use special frequency tunning (for some TV Cards - MSI TV@nywhere)

Restart ChrisTV.

One of this settings or both enabled could fix your problem.

ChrisTV PVR version 5.00 comes with the following Sound Settings window :

Image

Sound Settings Window lets you configure easily what sound mixer should ChrisTV use and you can choose the playback and recording sound settings.

You can access this window in ChrisTV Wizard and in Program Settings->Image & Sound Settings-> "More Settings..." button.
