After updating Nero to v 6.3.1.15 ChrisTVstopt working.
After starting ChrisTV is comes to the point where the start screen says "detecting hardware" chrisTV just stops no error message.

About 1 out of 3-4 times it manages to start up but after about a minute the application closes and picture is gone, sound however stays.

After removing Nero everything is ok (reinstalling Nero again and the problem is back)

Anybody any ideas how to solve this?

Similar problem here, installed new Nero 6.3.1.15. Now ChrisTV crashes on start (75% of the time) or shortly, about a minute, after start. On the crash I get a Windows "request to send error report"-window but if ChrisTV had fully started video would keep playing as long as the error-window is open.

ChrisTV.log

Edit: After reading OP, I tried removing Nero, that seems to resolve the problem. I ran ChrisTV while an older Nero 6 was installed without any problems. Although I would like to be able to run them (the new nero that is) together.

Hi Chris,

Yes I posted the whole log files (this is as far as it came before crashing)

I read on a Nero board a number of similar messages TV capture cards not working after the latest Nero upgrade. Like Bacchus I installed a previous Nero version (6.3.1.10) and all problems are gone, I guess we have to wait for the next Nero update and skip this one.

These 2 Nero filters seem to cause the problem :

c:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeQTADec.ax

c:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeQTVDec.ax

We hope that the Nero team will solve the problem in next release.

I just installed Nero’s latest release 6.3.1.17 and the problem still exists.

I unregistered the filter mentioned by Chris as the likely suspects and surprise problems gone. :D

If you want to try this solution go to Start=>Run and execute the following lines:

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeQTADec.ax"
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeQTVDec.ax"

The only consequence seems to be that Nero Vision can’t decode Apple Quick time format after this (something I can live with)

Good luck

Do you have any addition Quicktime app installed on your system ? or any Codec Packs ?
Because ChrisTV is still running correctly after updating to 6.3.1.17

Hi all,

Exactly the same problem for me with the latest and previous Nero releases.

Chris - for your information, Leadtek released a patch for their WinPVR software which solves the problem (the exact same error happened in their software as with yours). Their update log reads:

1.Fix QuickTime Runtime and Nero QT Decoder Filters' bug.
2.Fix ClosedCaption issue at Intel HyperThreading CPU

I think you already knew this anyway but thought I'd add this incase it helps.

It seems that this problem appears only on some TV Cards, not on all : because ATI AIW 9600 and KNC1 Philips SAA7134 work correctly with ChrisTV.
This could be related also with the driver of the tv card.
But we're trying to find exactly where the problem might be and how to fix it in ChrisTV.
