In this topic, you will find a step by step guide for configuring ChrisTV Professional and Standard version 4.90 and above to work correctly with your ATI Theater 550 PRO TV Card ( a.k.a. ATI TV Wonder Elite, Sapphire Theatrix 550 ), also there should be no problem using Theater 650 TV card (analog TV tuner only).

You have to download and install ChrisTV version 4.90 or above from http://www.chris-tv.com/download.html
Make sure you have the latest WHQL drivers for your TV card from the manufacturer webpage : ATI Technologies Inc.

Step by step configuration :
1. Run ChrisTV Configuration Wizard.
2. Choose capture device : "TV Card (with analog TV Tuner)" and click Next button.
3. Choose :
- TV Card Type : "ATI Theater 550 PRO"
- MPEG Video Decoder : Cyberlink Video Decoder or Intervideo Video Decoder
- MPEG Audio Decoder : Cyberlink Audio Decoder or Intervideo Audio Decoder
click Next button.
4. Choose correctly :
- Video Capture Source : "ATI AVStream Analog Capture".
- Audio Capture Source : your sound card.
- Sound Playback input : Wave
- Sound Record Input : doesn't matter.
click Next button.
5. Leave default values and click Next button.
6. Choose your Country and Language and leave the other settings to default values and click Next button.
P.S. : For some countries the sound and video could not work correctly because the TV Cable providers don't use the official country Video Standard for the channels that they provide. For example Romania has PAL DK and some providers are using PAL-BG (like Germany) for their channels. So you'll have to change the country to other value.

Also, in ChrisTV you can enable Live Preview Mode (bypass MPEG Hardware Encoder) :
1. Go to Program Settings->MPEG HW Encoding
2. Enable "Use live preview mode..." and "Force audio output..."
3. Restart ChrisTV.

Using this mode you will have low CPU usage and you can use deinterlace filter and ffdshow filter to improve image quality (in this mode you don't need MPEG2 decoders).

If you have sound problems, you should Enable in Program Settings->Driver Settings->Advanced :
1. Use alternative channel frequency setting ( for some TV Cards)
2. Use special frequency tunning (for some TV Cards - MSI TV@nywhere)
And restart.

If you do not have installed the Intervideo or Cyberlink MPEG Audio/Video Decoder, you can try to install the DScaler 5 MPEG filters from :

In ChrisTV 4.80 we have improved the support for the ATI Theater 550 PRO TV cards.
Also, we have added the option to fix sound quality for some TV cards with MPEG Hardware encoder (like ATI Theater 550 PRO, Hauppauge PVR 150/250/350/500) which might have problems : choppy sound or no sound in preview when "Live Preview Mode" is disabled or while making recordings with low video bitrates.
You can find this setting in Program Settings->MPEG Hardware Encoder->Main Settings and MPEG Recording.

Make sure you have the latest driver installed from ATI website :
